Major and Minor Requirements

  • Major

    The Gender and Sexuality Studies Major

    Note: The grade point average of the coursework comprising the major must be no less than 2.00 with no course grade below C (2.0).

    9 units, including:

    • GSS200 Introduction to Gender & Sexuality Studies

    • GSS202 Feminist and Queer Theories

    • GSS490 Capstone Seminar

    • Six elective units selected from GSS prefix courses or approved interdisciplinary courses assigned with GSS elective (GSSE) attribute. (no more than .5 unit of internship credit may count toward the major)

    Students are expected to fulfill all prerequisites necessary for courses within the major. Prerequisites do not count toward the major unless otherwise noted.

  • Minor

    The Gender and Sexuality Studies Minor

    Note: The grade point average of the coursework comprising the minor must be no less than 2.00 with no course grade below C (2.0).

    Five units, including:

    • GSS200 Introduction to Gender & Sexuality Studies

    • GSS202 Feminist and Queer Theories

    • Three electives units

    No more than .5 unit of internship may count.

    Students are expected to fulfill all prerequisites necessary for courses within the minor. Prerequisites do not count toward the minor unless otherwise noted

    Note:  If you are in the will Program, you earn your minor in WGSS in a will-specific way: 

    Five units:  

    • GSS200 Introduction to GSS

    • GSS201 will Colloquium on Gender, Race and Activism 

    • GSS280 Gender and Work 

    • GSS elective 

    • GSS388 Internship (.5 unit) 

    • GSS301 will Senior Seminar (.5 unit)
